Note

On January 28th, 2022, the official Japanese anime Twitter account posted the official reveal of the voice actors for Marie and Nezu.

More cast members for the popular anime "Pocket Monsters" (which airs on the TV Tokyo Network every Friday at 6:55) have just been announced. Hiro Shimono will be playing Nezu, the Gym Leader of Spiketown in the Galar region, while Yui Ogura will be playing his younger sister Marie. Marie will make her debut in "Marie from Spiketown!", the episode airing February 25th, 2022, where she will be facing Satoshi as an opponent in the "Pokémon World Championships".

In "Marie from Spiketown!", it's been decided that Satoshi will be facing Marie from the Galar region in the Pokémon World Championships. However, in an attempt at making Marie win a walkover victory, the Yell Gang feeds him misinformation regarding the venue of the match and sends him to Spiketown, where he encounters Marie's older brother and Spiketown's Gym Leader, Nezu.

Nezu drives Satoshi to the real venue in Shoot City on his motorcycle, and on the way he tells him how Marie feels about the Championships. It's time for a fierce Hyper Class match to begin.

Comments from Hiro Shimono, who plays Nezu:
This isn't my first role in a Pocket Monsters TV series, but it's been quite a while since my other one, so I was a bit nervous about this... (laughs) But when I was at the dubbing session, I was entirely focused on doing my absolute best.

Nezu has some very particular preferences when it comes to Pokémon battling, but I'm able to relate to people like that... and once I started playing the character, I started liking him more and more; There are other sides to him as well, like how despite the way he looks, he's actually really fond of his sister Marie, he told us. I had lots of fun playing a character with such a deceptive appearance, so please look forward to seeing the Spike Siblings in action, okay?!

Comments from Yui Ogura, who plays Marie:
The Pocket Monsters video games and anime have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, so I was really happy when I got cast as Marie. I felt that she's not just a cute character, but a very strong-willed and cool girl.

Especially during battles she fights with a lot of passion that really makes her determination shine through. She assaults Satoshi with all she's got in order to express that passion, she said. I got to record this episode together with Nezu's voice actor Mr. Shimono, and during the dubbing he treated me like he really was my big brother. I think the good tone we had might have made its way into our performances, so I really hope you'll look forward to this episode!

On February 23rd and 24th, 2022, the official Japanese anime Twitter account posted videos of Hiro Shimono and Yui Ogura introducing themselves and the characters they voiced.
