Summary
Ash and co. are running on the road. This is what Ash is doing for his training so far for the Pokémon League. A car comes up to Ash and is splashes water into Ash's face. A puff of smoke comes out of the car and gets into Ash's eyes. The car is about to hit him but it stops leaving a traffic jam. People get out of their cars and they argue with each other. Officer Jenny blows her whistle and she tells them to break it up. She gets the cars moving again. Brock wonders why there's so many cars with surfboards. Officer Jenny tells him that they have surfboards because Humangadunga is coming, Humungadunga is a gigantic wave that only comes once every twenty years. Jan was a surfing legend who made it to the top of Humungadunga.

Everyone changes into their bathing suits. Ash tries to surf some waves. Pikachu and Togepi are playing in the water. Then Pikachu sees another Pikachu sitting on a cliff. This Pikachu has blue eyes. Its tail begins to glow and a man says that a big wave is coming but it's not Humungadunga. Ash is surfing the wave, but he falls into the water and messes up. Something is wrong with Ash's foot. He can't get back up and the waves crash on him. A big wave forms, but just before it hits Ash, a guy and his Pikachu comes and rescues him. It's the same Pikachu with the blue eyes. His trainer calls him "Pooka". They are great surfers. Ash opens his eyes and he sees Pooka. Then he closes his eyes again.

Ash is in the man's bed. Ash wakes up and Misty and Brock ask him if he's okay. The man that saved him before comes out. His name is Victor and he brings Ash something to drink. Ash thanks him for saving his life, but Victor tells Ash to thank his Pikachu, Pooka. Ash's Pikachu runs up to Pooka and they both look at the sea.

Team Rocket is in their sub again spying on the two Pikachu. Jessie wants to steal them both so that they can get double their normal salary. They start up their Gyarados sub and go full speed ahead.

Ash, Brock, and Victor talk for awhile. Victor says that he's had Pooka for close to twenty years now. Victor adds on that he didn't capture Pooka with a Pokéball. It came to him from the sea. Victor recalls the time when Pooka came to him. Pooka was on a piece of wood and it jumped into Victor's arms. Misty thinks that Pooka is a mysterious Pokémon. Victor says that Pooka can feel the waves in its body. Pooka knows when a big wave is coming and how it will break. Misty looks at all the pictures. They see a picture of Victor and Pooka from twenty years ago. Then they look at a picture of Victor from fourty years ago. The last picture shows a person named Jan.

Victor always wanted to be just like Jan. He always watched Jan surf and so Victor tried surfing himself when he was little. Of course, he would mess up a lot of the time. Victor thinks that Jan could also sense the waves in his body. Then the day came. The Humungadunga! A lot of people failed when surfing that wave. Jan, however, succeeded and he placed his flag at the top of the rock. Then Jan gave Victor his surfboard and headed off to surf the world. Twenty years later, Victor decided to surf the Humungadunga. Victor was disappointed because he fell over. That's when Pooka came to him. From this day foward, Victor and Pooka have ridden every single wave except for the Humungadunga. Ash knows Victor can do it.

Suddenly, Pikachu screams. Ash and co. run outside and the two Pikachu are caught in Team Rocket's mechanical arms. Team Rocket comes out and they recite their motto. When they are done, Team Rocket brings the Pikachu back into their sub and they take off. Ash's Pikachu tries to shock the cage but it doesn't work. Then Team Rocket gets hit from a swarm of Gyarados. James says that Gyarados lay eggs once a year and this must be their egg laying season. Team Rocket decides to leave. Suddenly, one of the Gyarados fires a Hyper Beam at Team Rocket.

Ash and co. have taken a boat to find the two Pikachu. Misty spots something in the water. The Gyarados finally hits Team Rocket and they go blasting off again. The Pikachu begin to fall in the water. Ash takes out Bulbasaur and he tells Bulbasaur to catch Pikachu with its vines. Bulbasaur manages to catch Ash's Pikachu, but Pooka lands in the water. Victor throws Pooka his surfboard and then he dives in the water as well. Brock says that they have to head back to shore. Victor asks Pooka if it's okay. Pooka's body begins to glow. Victor now knows that the Humungadunga is about to come. Officer Jenny tells everyone to evacuate the beach.

Ash and co. see Victor and Pooka riding the Humungadunga! Victor unravels his flag and he places it right next to Jan's flag. Victor has successfully ridden the Humungadunga. Ash and co. cheer for Victor and Pooka. At the beach, Ash and co. congratulate him. Victor sees two kids with surfboards staring right at him. Victor walks up to the kids and he says,"Hey, you can do it too." In the evening, Team Rocket is in their sub which is surrounded by the Gyarados. All they have to do is wait for the next Humungadunga to come. Meowth thinks that it will take only a few days for it to come again. Think again Meowth...
