Paint Edit

The Hanada Gym sign is changed to Cerulean Gym. The "Ice Cream" (アイスクリム) sign in the same scene is unmodified in the English version though. The gym sign is also seen modified in a few other instances throughout the episode.
01:28

Paint Edit

During the flashback scene, the sign is shown again. In English it state, "GARY WAS HERE! ASH IS A LOSER!" In Japanese it states, Shigeru has arrived! Satoshi's a moron!! (シゲル参上! サトシのバーカ!!)
01:31

Paint Edit

The full sign is also shown again with Ash standing in front of it. In the English dub it says, "Cerulean City →". In the Japanese version it states, Shortcut to Hanada City is this way → (ハナダシティーヘの近道はこちら →).
04:20

Paint Edit

The sign outside the shop Team Rocket infiltrated was painted over in the English dub. In English it says, "Machine Shop Industrial supplies All makes and models" It is similar in Japanese, Machine D (マシーンD).
04:23

Paint Edit

A few other signs have paint edits in the English dub. Interestingly though, the ELOVE sign is the same in both the English and Japanese versions. One sign changes from "Room" (ルーム) in Japanese to ILS in English.
13:24

Script Error

In the dub, the dex states: "Staryu. The core of this Water Pokémon shines in a rainbow of seven colors, a core that is valued by some as a type of jewelery."

In the Japanese version, the translation to English states: "Pocket Monster, Hitodeman. It's a hermaphrodite. In other words, being both male and female, it can have a relationship with anyone."
21:17

Script Error

Koichi Sakaguchi (坂口候一), who plays the announcer is this episode, is mistakenly credited as playing Arbo, who does not appear in the episode.

Summary:
Wanting to assemble a collection of Trainer Badges, Satoshi heads towards Hanada City. His goal there is to have a Pokémon showdown in the Hanada Gym, but Kasumi tells him she doesn't want to go to Hanada City for some unstated reason, and disappears somewhere along the way.

Not letting that bother them, Satoshi and Pikachu run full speed towards Hanada City's Hanada Gym. However, when they get there, the building looks more like a strange sort of aquarium. And when they enter, they are greeted by three beautiful sisters performing a synchronized swimming show, which Satoshi and Pikachu get completely absorbed in.

Is this really the Hanada Gym? Who are the three sisters performing this show really? And will Satoshi be able to get a badge here?
