Variety is reporting that a new Pokémon Live-Action series is in development at Netflix according to their exclusively sources. The show is still in early development but Joe Henderson is apparently going to write and executive produce the series. Representatives for Netflix and Joe Henderson did not confirm Variety‘s rumoured report nor their request for comment.

The Pokémon Company International has announced the United States premiere of Pokémon Master Journeys: The Series will be exclusively on Netflix on September 10th, 2021. Bellevue, Wash. — July 7, 2021 — The Pokémon Company International announced that the upcoming season of “Pokémon Master Journeys: The Series” will premiere Sept. 10, 2021, exclusively on Netflix in the U.S. This follows the exclusive launch of the previous season in 2020 on the streaming platform in the U.S.

“Pokémon Master Journeys: The Series” is the 24th season of the globally popular animated series and features the newest adventures of Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu. The latest season features approximately 42 episodes, with an initial release of 12 episodes followed by quarterly releases on Netflix for the duration of the season. Beginning today, fans can watch a new trailer for the upcoming season on the official Pokémon YouTube channel.

“Pokémon Master Journeys: The Series” Synopsis:

It’s a big, big world, but you know where to find Ash and Goh—battling and catching Pokémon from Kanto to Galar! With Pikachu, Cinderace, and their other Pokémon beside them, our heroes continue to travel all over the world to research Pokémon for Cerise Laboratory. Along the way, Ash climbs higher in the World Coronation Series rankings, and Goh adds more Pokémon to his Pokédex in his quest to catch Mew. March 5th, 2021 marks the air date for the final 12 episodes of Pokémon Journeys: The Series, which are available to watch on Netflix. As of July 28th, 2015, Canadian Netflix competitor Shomi will now host the Pokémon Anime on its service according to the official Pokémon Twitter account. Shomi is a video on demand service jointly owned by Canadian cable giants Rogers Communications and Shaw Communications. Unlike Netflix, Shomi is currently only available to Rogers and Shaw Internet or cable customers and a Shomi subscription costs $8.99 CDN a month in addition to a Rogers or Shaw subscription. Some of their higher end cable packages include the Shomi service though. Canadian Pokémon anime fans wishing to watch the series are better off buying the DVD's or buying the episodes and season packs from iTunes. The Pokémon anime series is also available on demand via Netflix or on Pokemon.com's Watch Pokémon TV.

The Pokémon Company has posted the latest Pokémon the Series: XY English dub episodes on iTunes for purchase in North America and the United Kingdom. The Pokémon: BW Adventures in Unova (Box Set 1) was just revealed by Viz Media for release in North America on September 23rd, 2014, so fans will have a gap in the episodes available for purchase for a few months. Older episodes were recently posted on Netflix and Hulu. The DVD releases in North America have been notoriously slow and many of the seasons have been very hard to purchase due to high DVD prices. Beyond Home Entertainment in Australia though has been fairly up to date with the previous season DVD releases, but this marks the first time that current season episodes of the English dub are available for purchase.

The first 23 episodes of the series are available which is up to date with the United States airings on Cartoon Network. CITV in the United Kingdom is currently a few episodes ahead of Cartoon Network in the US but oddly they can only purchase the first 16 episodes at the moment.

The Pokémon the Series: XY is available to purchase in Standard and High definition. There are currently two volumes for purchase and each volume sells for $21.99USD/£19.99 in HD and $19.99/£18.99 in SD. The first episode of the series is available for free on the North American iTunes posting but individual episodes can also be purchase separately for $2.99/£2.49 in HD and $1.99/£1.89 in SD.
