Niantic has annnounced a Special Weekend event presented by Verizon for Pokémon GO players in the United States which takes place on Saturday, November 7th, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time.

Trainers, We’re excited to announce that we’re partnering with our friends at Verizon to provide exclusive benefits to Pokémon GO players in the United States! Grow your gameplay even further starting today!

Verizon, America's most reliable network, is now working alongside our teams to provide the best Pokémon GO experience for their users, as well as in-game benefits for all Trainers in the United States. You will soon enjoy enhanced gameplay features (such as Verizon Sponsored PokéStops, Sponsored Gyms, and Sponsored Gifts) and exclusive digital experiences! Trainers in the United States will be able to experience exciting special events and bonuses, provided by Verizon!

Special Weekend event, presented by Verizon!
Starting today, October 20, 2020, eligible Verizon users anywhere in the United States will be able to obtain tickets for an exclusive event: the Special Weekend. Trainers who are subscribed to Verizon mobile plans will be able to obtain a ticket by signing in to the Verizon Up app. Tickets are limited to one per Trainer account and will be available until the event day, on November 7.

The tickets provide Trainers access to the event-exclusive Timed Research and special Pokémon attracted to Incense on Saturday, November 7, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time anywhere in the United States. When they redeem their tickets, Trainers will receive an exclusive event medal.

  • The following Pokémon will be attracted to Incense during the event: Bulbasaur, Charizard, Squirtle, Pikachu, Unown V, Unown Z, Sableye, Patrat, Minccino, and Ferroseed. If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny Ferroseed!
  • Please note that Shiny Unown will not be appearing during this event.
  • Incense activated during the event will last for one hour.

Trainers, Halloween is frighteningly close! Get ready for some spooky shenanigans this year! Galarian Yamask makes its Pokémon GO debut in new Halloween-themed Special Research, and completing certain Field Research tasks may lead to an encounter with Spiritomb—you might even encounter a Shiny one! Dress up in ghastly new avatar items, prepare face off against spine-chillingly cool Pokémon in raids, and take part in Halloween-themed mini events like Catch Mastery: Ghost Day and the Halloween Cup! Regardless of where your dark heart leads you, there’s plenty to enjoy this Halloween!

Niantic has announced that on Friday, October 23rd, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. PDT, Mega Gengar will be available to battle in Mega Raids, and Mega Venusaur will be leaving Mega Raids.

Mega Venusaur leaves Mega Raids on October 23. Plus, take a sneak peek at some Mega Evolution updates.

Trainers, On Friday, October 23, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7), Mega Gengar will be available to battle in Mega Raids, and Mega Venusaur will be leaving Mega Raids. Until then, Mega Venusaur will be appearing more frequently in Mega Raids, so be sure to make the most of this time! Here are some other ways you’ll be able to earn Venusaur Mega Energy.

  • You’ll be able to earn Venusaur Mega Energy by completing select Field Research tasks.
  • An upcoming event in November will feature Timed Research that rewards Venusaur Mega Energy.
We’ll provide other ways for you to earn Venusaur Mega Energy in the future, so stay tuned for updates. In early November, there will be updates to the Mega Evolution feature. You’ll be able to do the following.
  • Earn Mega Energy by walking with your Buddy Pokémon if you have previously Mega Evolved a Pokémon in your Buddy Pokémon’s Evolutionary line.
  • Earn additional Candies when you have an active Mega-Evolved Pokémon and you catch a Pokémon that shares a type with your Mega-Evolved Pokémon. You will also earn additional Candies when catching a Raid Boss, regardless of its type.
  • See Trainers on your friend list who currently have a Mega-Evolved Pokémon.

Legendary Arena Details

The Legendary Arena is a special battle area where you can form multiple teams and take on the challenge using a set number of sync pairs. Each difficulty level has a maximum number of sync pairs that can participate. Sync pairs that have already participated cannot do so again until the challenge has been reset. Strategically form teams for each Legendary Arena challenge and take on the boss!

Missions

You can earn Medals and other completion rewards that are only available during this Legendary Arena challenge period! Check the Missions screen to learn more! Note: For more details about missions, tap the Mission Completion Rewards button displayed on the Legendary Arena difficulty selection screen.

On Friday, November 20th, 2020, the Pokémon Center Kanazawa will open at Kanazawa Forus. Passing through the gate at the entrance, you can see Milokaross, which is said to be the most beautiful Pokémon, peeking out of the water. In addition, starting on Friday, November 20th, 2020, the "Kanazawa Letter Campaign" will be held at the Pokémon Centers, Pokémon Stores and Pokémon Center Online to celebrate the opening of Pokémon Center Kanazawa! Be sure to check it out!

As a measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, advance reservations for admission to avoid congestion in the store will be required during the opening celebration. For details, please refer to the following "For Customers Planning to Visit Pokémon Center Kanazawa". If the number of applicants exceeds the number of time slots available, a lottery will be held.

During the following period, you are required to make an advance reservation to visit the store. Reservations will be sent by email on or after Thursday, November 5th, 2020. To make a reservation, you need to register as a member of the Pokémon Center Online. If you do not have a reservation, you will not be able to enter the store even if you come to the store on the day of the event.

Even on days other than the days that require reservations, depending on how crowded the store is, customers may be asked to wait until a specified time by handing out numbered tickets with times at the store entrance. Please be aware of this if you plan to visit the store.

The "Kanazawa Letter Campaign" starts on Friday, November 20th, 2020. Those who make purchases at Pokémon Centers, Pokémon Stores, and the Pokémon Centers Online nationwide in Japan will receive a "Letter-style Postcard from the Pokémon Center Kanazawa" at random for each purchase! There are three types of postcards you can get. The postcards feature Pokémon enjoying Kanazawa and a message from the Pokémon Center Kanzawa.

In addition, Pokémon Center Kanzawa is preparing a Letter-style Postcard with a different design from the ones given away nationwide. In addition, if you read the 2D code printed on the postcard with your smartphone, a Pikachu dressed in a Kaga-style Temari kimono will appear! If you get a letter-style postcard, give it a try.

Pokémon Center Kanazawa - Original Umbrella Markers

At Pokémon Center Kanazawa, from Friday, November 20th, 2020 to Monday, January 11th, 2021, when you make a purchase of a certain amount, you will receive an Original Umbrella Marker (オリジナルアンブレラマーカー) that will help prevent you from taking the wrong umbrella! Depending on the period, the amount of money you spend and the design of the umbrella marker will change.

During the first period, from November 20th, 2020 to December 20th, 2020, if you spend 4,000 yen (tax included) or more, you'll get one of three different designs to choose from at random! From December 21st, 2020 to January 11th, 2021, you can get one of these items with the purchase of 3,000 yen (tax included) or more.

You can combine the 1st and 2nd period umbrella markers to create your own design. Get your favorite Umbrella Marker, attach it to your umbrella, and carry it around with you!
