Note

In the games, upon activating Sandstorm, Raihan says: "Let the winds blow! Stream forward, Sandstorm!" In this episode in the English dub, he exactly quotes that line from the games and a visible Sandstorm is present during the scene.

The Japanese closed captions for this scene say: Blow forth, wind! Conjure a Sandstorm! (吹けよ風 呼べよ砂嵐) which is the exact dialog quote from the games as well (吹けよ風、呼べよすなあらし).

The origin of this line of dialog is based off of the Japanese title of the Pink Floyd song One of These Days (Blow forth, wind! Conjure a storm! 吹けよ風、呼べよ嵐).

In the games, it's his Flygon that uses Sandstorm, not Duraludon. Also, his Gigalith has the ability Sand Stream. Duraludon cannot normally learn the move Sandstorm nor the ability Sand Stream.

Anime Language

In this scene we find a game cameo written using Unown on the outside of the fountain in the background!

SWORD SHIELD

Script Error

The English dub incorrectly states that Farfetch'd was using Night Shade continuously after initially stating it was using Night Slash. The Japanese original correctly says Night Slash (つじぎり) for this dialog line.

Ash: You're only gonna battle using Night Shade?
サトシ: つじぎりだけで勝負するつもりか!
