Script Error

PokeCan in the Japanese original is based off the magazine AneCan (姉キャン) which is derived from the magazine CanCam (キャンキャン). CanCam means "can campus", since the people reading it will learn to "understand" the campus fashion scene. AneCan is aimed at older readers, so that title means that "the older sister "can" as well" and With PokeCan, it means "Pokémon "can" their fashion scene".

PokéChic is just "Pokémon + Chic" meaning Pokémon can be stylish. It could also be based off the English fashion magazine Chic.

Dawn: PokéChic?
Hikari: "PokeCan"?
04:12

Script Error

Hikari in the Japanese original remembered Hoshino because of the charisma factor. The English dub removed the whole charisma aspect and expanded the short form 'PokéList' to its full 'Pokémon Stylist' title.

Dawn: She's that awesome Pokémon stylist!
Hikari: The PokéList charisma!
05:15

Script Error

This scene featuring Team Rocket was completely rewritten in the English dub. TPCi continues their fascination with trains by including a bunch of train references in Team Rocket's dialog which weren't in the Japanese original. James does a bit of word play while referencing the story The Little Engine That Could to state that he was tired. Later on, Kojiro thinks he recognizes Delibird but James doesn't have a clue what it is at that same instance. Jessie on the other hand wants beans for some reason.

Character English Translation Japanese
Meowth Okay, kids. Make way for the tummy rumble express. I'm so hungry...
James I'm the little engine that can't! I can't walk any more.
Jessie End of the line. Me neither...
Meowth We need a groovy gift from the Boss to stoke the ol' fire. It's times like this I wish a reward from the boss...
Rockets And delivered air mail express. ...would just come flying to us...
James What's that? Isn't that...?
Rockets Delibird ho! It's Delibird!
Jessie With provisions in tow! Our reward is flying to us!
Rockets Is that a sack lunch? We were waiting for you!
Jessie Spill the beans. I just love beans! Yay! Hey, hey, it's food, right? Hey, food? Food? Hey, hey, hey!
James It's chowtime, hooray! Quick, quick, quick!
Jessie Beans don't come in a book. What's this? 何?

Script Error

Nyarth states the plan succeeded when they captured the Pokémon in the Japanese original.

Meowth: Friends to the very end!
Nyarth: Our plan has succeeded!
17:46

Script Error

Johanna in the English dub states the time on the clock but Ayako in the Japanese original doesn't specifically state what time it is.

Johanna: It's 3:00, you two, almost time to go.
Ayako: Satoshi-kun, Takeshi-kun, it's time.
18:04

Script Error

Brock in the English dub doesn't include himself in the count for gifts. Takeshi on the other hand talks about his siblings as a whole including himself in the count.

Brock: Don't forget I've got nine brothers and sisters.
Takeshi: After all, we're a big family with ten siblings!
20:50

Culture Reference

The ending credits for the Japanese original had flashback scenes from the Diamond and Pearl series. The English dub didn't do a flashback.
21:30

Scene Cut

The final segment of the show that featured Ash and Brock parting ways took place before the credits in the English dub. In the Japanese version, it aired after the ending credits as an epilogue.

I was sad to see the series end. It's hard to believe just how fast this series has gone by. 4 years has flown by. Sooner than we think, will be saying the same thing about how Black and White is now over.

The background music really helped make this episode memorable. I'm surprised to think and say that I'm sad to see Hikari go. I'm still quite hesitant about the new Black and White characters, especially Dento.

Takeshi got a pretty short goodbye. No real flashback scene or anything, just an interesting epilogue scene showing Satoshi and Takeshi at the now quite famous crossroads where they've split a few times. I hope that the short scene with Takeshi is a bit of an indication that we will see him again soon. Hopefully his new found profession has him traveling with Satoshi again.

Unfortunately we didn't get to see any cameo scene with Kenji or Kasumi. I was hoping for at least an appearance in Masara Town.

So sad. I will miss the DP cast so much, unlike before I was actually old enough to appreciate the characters this time around, and now i have to see them ago, especially Takeshi that has been around for ~13 years ;0.

I agree the BGM in this episode was fantastic. Let alone Together itself being used in the Champion battle made my week. I love this episode and am depressed by it at the same time.

I'm completely prepared for BW now though! I love Iris's design and I'm sure I'll grow to love Dento too. DP set the standards high, hopefully BW is better.

I thought it was confirmed Brock won't be in Best Wishes? He already has a replacement and Brock's character and VA isn't listed anywhere on the official TVTokyo "Best Wishes," site. Brock's definitely retired from the anime as a main character at least, besides possible cameos.

Brock's goodbye was short but it fit his character. I think they spent too much time on Piplup's crying though.

As for the lack of Pallet, at this point, it would not surprise me if Misty and Tracey are phased out from the series entirely. They haven't been an important part of the show now for three generations and have gotten too far into the past.

If you watch it from the bright side, though, you see that we finally have gotten rid of the immature penguin.

I can't believe the show made it through another epoch of 4 years. IMHO, DP is the best out of three series we've had so far. It had interesting plots, amusing fillers and badass (incredibly rushed though) league. The amount of boring episodes was like 5 times lower compared to Johto or Hoenn, which is quite a step forward for the Pokémon anime as a whole. Shinji and Team Galactic made the show far more interesting than it used to be during earlier PM and AG days, which had no properly developed evil teams and rivals storywise.

The last episode itself was good but I expected it to be somewhat better for the last episode of the 4 years long series. The ending and after-ending parts were cool though.

I hope that Best Wishes! will be up to our expectation, especially after DP. Looking forward to Isshu!

NEXT TIME...
A NEW BEGINNING!

It really is odd that Dawn is gone already. She only traveled with Ash for one region while Misty/May got at least two.

Dawn and her Piplup can't advertise the BW games though, so she had to leave. I doubt she'll ever appear again though if there are no Contests in the next series.

I'm also really going to miss Hikari and Pochama. Mostly Pochama, haha.
They've bought up Pokemon stylists again. I didn't watch the episode where they entered the contest so excuse me if i get this wrong. Anyone else think that Pokemon Musicals may have something to do with pokemon stylists? Since they have to dress up and all.

Hikari and Mimirol's photoshot may be an excuse for them to Isshu.

DP is over and Misty did not appear at all. :/

Perhaps its because they think she's become so disliked in recent years since the end of Johto. Or that May was more popular, take your pick.

I just can't see Misty ever appearing again now.

She was disliked, that's my guess.
I don't think she'll appear in Best Wishes.

The English dub aired this at the wrong time. As a fan that watches both the Japanese original and the English dub, there just wasn't that big of a sad impact for Dawn and Brock that Hikari and Takeshi had because the Japanese DP special featuring the return of the two characters aired a few days before the final DP dub episode. There really wasn't a waiting period that the Japanese had to see them again as most the fansite covered the Japanese return of the characters. If fans didn't watch the Japanese one, then it probably would have a more emotional impact.

Brock's goodbye was really poorly handled. All he got was a 1 minute handshake at the end and that's it.

I think the problem is the writers spent most of the ep focusing on Dawn and Piplup, rather than Brock. Almost seems sad for Brock, since he was on the show for 13 years compared to Dawn's only 4.

Its really odd that Brock's goodbye was so low-key. It felt the same as when he and Ash split at the end of AG, only without Ash's "hungry" line.

I couldn'd agree more I saw the Japanese one back when it aired so I didn't get as emotional when the dub did air. it still was a good episode.
